George Osodi Visits PAU

Renowned photographer George Osodi was a guest speaker at PAU on the 23rd of March. He spoke to the students during an interactive session. During the session, he described how he made the decision to become a photographer and the challenges he faced as a consequence of his decision. He also traced his development over the years.

George Osodi is an internationally acclaimed Freelance Photographer based in Lagos Nigeria.He studied Business Administration at the Yaba College of Technology in Lagos, before working as a photojournalist for the Comet Newspaper in Lagos from 1999-2001. He joined the Associated Press News Agency in Lagos in 2001-2008. His photographs range between photojournalism and artistic documentary. He has worked on various photography project globally with his works exhibited world wide including the prestigious Documenta 12 (2007) in Kassel Germany. He has also been the winner of the first prize Fuji Africa Photographer of the Year 2004, and the Sony World Photography Award 2009.

Osodi has covered many assignments for both local and international organisations, with his photographs published in many international and local media. He has also been commissioned on photo project by several organizations worldwide and he is a member of Panos Pictures U.K.
