In a display of sheer innovation and collaborative prowess, the Ìyá Finance team from the Technology Innovation Club at Pan-Atlantic University emerged as the undeniable champions at the recent Payaza 2.0 hackathon. Over two intense days, they showcased their groundbreaking approach to revolutionizing Africa’s financial landscape through regenerative AI, securing not only victory but also a significant $5,000 prize.
Inspired by the Yoruba word “Ìyá,” meaning “mother,” Ìyá Finance embodies the vision of providing financial guidance akin to a mother’s care. This approach aims to empower individuals across Africa by offering tailored financial advice adaptable to their unique circumstances.
Leveraging the transformative capabilities of regenerative AI, Ìyá Finance continuously learns from user interactions and real-time data, ensuring its guidance remains relevant and aligned with evolving financial aspirations.
Comprising Francis Okocha-Ojeah, Ogechukwu Ata, and Chinwendu Nweje (all in their 400 levels, Computer Science department), the team brought a fusion of expertise. Ogechukwu’s mastery in front-end development, Chinwendu’s proficiency in AI and machine learning, and Francis’s expertise in software engineering formed a formidable synergy that propelled them to victory. Francis Okocha-Ojeah’s leadership earned him the distinguished Best Teammate award and an additional $200 prize.
The Payaza 2.0 victory stands as a testament to the team’s belief in the transformative potential of regenerative AI and their commitment to fostering financial inclusivity across Africa.
